FEATURES

AGI Glassplant concentration systems offer uniform thin film formation and uniform heating at low pressure for a high evaporation rate.

Magnetic stirrer sealing and greaseless valves and joints allow for contamination-free material processing using AGI wiped film systems.

Short residence time contributes to the preservation of properties of heat sensitive materials while evaporating the volatile fraction in the chemical mixture. This also prevents fouling of materials in the evaporation column.

HIGH EFFICIENCY THIN FILM EVAPORATORS AND SHORT PATH EVAPORATORS

Wiped film Evaporators for low pressure separation and purification of heat-sensitive or high-boiling point liquids

THIN FILM EVAPORATOR

Ideal for separating volatile components from heat sensitive, viscous and fouling chemical mixtures, our Thin Film Evaporator is the perfect lab evaporator for concentration/distillation of temperature-sensitive chemical mixtures, enzymes, proteins, vitamins, aromatic compounds, botanicals, and more.

OPTION: +300 °C in jacket with PBI wiper

Operating pressure:

0.1 mbar (abs.) to atm

Operating jacket pressure:

Up to +0.5 barG (+0.05 MPa)

Feed rate:

0.1 to 1.5 kg/h (DN 60)
0.3 to 3.0 kg/h (DN 100)

Maximum viscosity:

Up to 1,000 mPa.s (custom-made)

Maximum wiper rotation speed:

DN60 300rpm (continuous) 350rpm (Intermittent)

SHORT PATH EVAPORATOR

Low pressure evaporation for separating volatile components from chemical mixtures with properties that are hard to separate, heat-sensitive and high-boiling. The combination of very low pressure, thin film formation and short residence time on the heated surface makes our Short Path Evaporator ideal for the gentle separation of high-boiling heat sensitive chemical mixtures.

The main differences between AGI Glassplant Thin Film and Short Path Evaporator are the operating pressure and the position of the condenser. The Thin Film Evaporator features an external condenser and operates from 0.1 mbar (abs.) to atmospheric pressure. The Short Path Evaporator features an internal condenser co-axially positioned alongside the wiper and evaporation surface area and operates from 0.001 mbar (abs.) to atmospheric pressure.

The difference in pressure is due to the pressure drop that occurs when the vapor travels from the evaporating area to the condensing area. The distance travelled in the Short Path Evaporator is shorter compared to our Thin Film Evaporator, making the Short Path Evaporator best suited to working at lower pressures compared to the Thin Film Evaporator.

AGI Glassplant’s concentration range consists of Thin Film and Short Path evaporators. These are otherwise known as Wiped Film Evaporators. Short path evaporation can also be known as molecular distillation and Short Path Evaporators can also be known as molecular distillation units.

AGI Glassplant Thin Film and Short Path Evaporators are extremely efficient, with high evaporation rates and low residence times. Our systems are as easy to use and maintain as possible. Film thickness can be optimized to your requirement, and you can control how much sample is fed into the main body via the feed vessel. Easily accessible parts can be quickly removed and replaced for no-fuss cleaning. AGI Glassplant reactor vessels are constructed from our best-in-class glassware, undergoing our optimized vessel wall thickness process to enable more efficient energy exchange between. The all-glass design of our Wiped Film Evaporators allows continuous visual monitoring of the process, and the adjustable feed rate provides control over film formation.

AGI Glassplant has been developing premium concentration, evaporation and distillation systems for many decades and also manufactures a range of Rotary Evaporators and Distillation systems. These systems can be known as chemical distillers, solvent evaporators, or chemistry evaporators. Whatever your requirement, AGI Glassplant can help you on your chemical processing journey.

Thin Film and Short Path Evaporators are versatile tools utilized across various industries for evaporation and separation of heat-sensitive liquids, purification, concentration, and processing of viscous materials.

In the food and beverage sector, they concentrate and purify products like fruit juices, essential oils, and producing alcoholic beverages. The pharmaceutical industry utilizes them to concentrate drug solutions, solvent removal, solvent recovery, and process sensitive compounds like vitamins. In the chemical sector, they process high boiling point compounds, purify fine chemicals, and removal of volatiles from heat sensitive mixtures. The cannabis industry uses them to extract and purify components, producing high-purity concentrates. The petrochemical sector uses Thin Film and Short Path Evaporators to process heavy oils and petroleum products, and the environmental industry utilizes them to treat wastewater and recovering valuable chemicals from waste streams.

The main applications of AGI Glassplant Thin Film Evaporators are separating volatile components from heat sensitive, viscous and fouling chemical mixtures, concentration/distillation of temperature-sensitive chemical mixtures, enzymes, proteins, vitamins, aromatic compounds, botanicals, and any application that requires the evaporation of volatile fractions at low temperatures.

The main applications of AGI Glassplant Short Path Evaporators are lab scale molecular distillation, separating volatile components from chemical mixtures with properties that are hard to separate, heat-sensitive and high-boiling. The combination of very low pressure, thin film formation and short residence time on the heated surface makes our Short Path Evaporator ideal for the gentle separation of high-boiling heat sensitive chemicals such as fine chemical separation.
